Plug a Friend’s Book Day

I’ve decided that Monday June 2 is a good day for the second annual Plug A Friend’s Book Day!

I’ll be plugging a friend’s book, or just even a book I love over at SFC. Feel free to join in!

In other news the ONE YEAR anniversary for Naughty and Spice is coming up and we have FABULOUS things a’cookin’! I can’t wait to tell you. Wow what a year it’s been…..

I got 3k words yesterday and I’m editing today…….what about you?

Also found out yesterday that SCREWED will have to be re-titled. When I get a new one, I’ll hollar :)

*Edited to Add I forgot! Lauren Dane is blogging at NAS today!

Shiloh’s Auction and a Deadline Island Report

Fellow author Shiloh Walker is doing an ebay auction to benefit cyclone victims in Myanmar (via Save the Children). The full list of items can be seen here. There’s TONS of great books (Anya Bast, Beth Williamson, Charlene Teglia, Ann Jacobs, Kate Angel, Sara Reinke, yours truly and of course Ms. Shiloh herself!).

Go forth and bid!

Instead of blogging at Naughty and Spice Tuesday, I’m blogging at the Cobblestone Press blog*. I hope you’ll stop by.

And then on Wednesday I”m blogging at the Romance Junkies Blog*

And if you’re at all interested in what’s coming our way this fall on TV, Upfront is just around the corner. I’ve heard we have more Life, Heroes, Terminator:SCC and Eli Stone coming as well as Gossip Girl, Reaper and Supernatural. And of course Joss Wheadon has a new series in the works *drool* I’ve been um doing research watching lots of Buffy and Angel–how the hell did I miss Angel?

(*This is as much a reminder for me as it is for ya’ll Hehe)

TUESDAY UPDATE: The auction is up to 500.00!!!! Over at Naughty and Spice with my RITA scores. And blogging about the high cost of a good time at the Cobblestone Blog.

I got tons of writing/plotting done last night and I’m off to dump my Alpha Smart.

American What?

It was Neil Diamond night on AI last night. Overall, I was not thrilled. It’s below the cut for Amanda in the UK :)

Yes, I wrote last night….I’m also doing page proofs for MUS and some heavy WIP thinking. I started a scene for Screwed that feels like it’s in the wrong place. It’s toward the end but I’m thinking it’s more important than that–the heroine finds out the hero violated her trust and invaded her privacy. It means doing a lot of tweaking I don’t have time for but I seriously think it needs moving.

Happy Easter Weekend Everyone!

Tell me that photo’s not some funny sh*t!!! LOL

In other news my kids have decided the word of the day is Penis. It’s much more fun than calling each other Gay. *sigh* God save me. Which they did the other night, while I was trying to sleep.

See Anne…the meter moved *ggg*

The kids are gone this weekend. I’m writing and we’re getting this contest stuff OUT of my HOUSE tomorrow. SWEET! Okay not tomorrow because we have to go to the post office but….it’ll be ready to go, thank you sweet baby Jesus. BTW Mel if you’re out there, I used that in my proposal and yes, it made me giggle.

So, what makes you giggle?

I Quit

Or a recent (edited) conversation with a writer friend who wants to quit writing.

Moi: I’ll be your cheerleader but I wont drag you kicking and screaming. There’s only so much I can do. I believe in you and you need to believe in you too
Friend: thank you Amie
Friend: I heart you
Moi: I know talent doesn’t count for near as much as it should but it does count. I can’t make you NOT give up……just like I can’t make anyone else give up. But I also believe that luck can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. You’ve got to make some of your own luck and believe in yourself even when the shit gets hard–especially when the shit gets hard. Now………keep your fucking head down and write. All the other bullSHIT will sort itself out
Friend: yeah
Moi: Write because you love it….not because of NY, not because you want an agent, not because of anything other than you LOVE creating things and you’re good at it. You ARE a born storyteller. Do what you love and the money will come.
Friend: I like that
Moi: Maybe not on your time schedule, maybe on the time schedule of the woman upstairs but it’ll come

Do I need to add anything to this? Can you? What would you say (or what have you said) to a friend who wanted to quit?

I’ve written 3250 words yesterday and today…on the WRONG project. Um no comment please.

Speaking of Bad

I’m over at SFC blogging about…BAD SEX!
And over at Naughty and Spice blogging about….blurbs…and showing off my new cover for MUS.

As reported, I managed 19 pages on Saturday. GO ME! A part of me wants to stop and edit, a part of me wants to push on. A part of me wants to work on sixty million other things. My editor wants edits LOL so I’ll be doing that tonight and tomorrow.

Speaking of bad….I really do have a reason to blog besides telling you I’m blogging somewhere else…..People, do your research. I know most of the folks who read this blog are seasoned authors (I assume so from who I see comment) so this is kind of preaching to the choir but you know if you don’t know something ask someone, or Lord GOOGLE IT! Yes I read contest entries this weekend. I had some wonderful entries that weren’t perfect and some perfect entries that weren’t wonderful and I had some entries that left me scratching my head.

I also finished Grisham’s The Appeal(thank you Lynn). While I really liked it a lot, I can’t really blog about it the way I’d like without posting a big-ASS spoiler, so I won’t. :) It was classic Grisham though….for the most part (but the large cast got real confusing real quick). One thing I can blog about is the stark contrast between the two opposing sides–the obscenely rich business owner with his trophy wife, and a child he doesn’t want and the poor, bordering on bankruptcy, trial lawyers who literally gamble everything to do what’s right and how important their family is to them. It was very day and night–and even more interesting after Shanna Swendson’s presentation on world building on Saturday.
